I have struggled with weight and body image issues since as long as I can remember. I have always felt the guilt of having a big meal and doing some ill informed diet and exercise routines.
I decided that there had been enough of this guilt and self hate. That's when I contacted Amita.
I had a holiday planned plus the ganapati festival was also on my mind (modak!). I told Amita I will start the nutrition and fitness routine after a month; as I really wanted to explore the food on my holiday. She explained to me that if I was really keen on getting fit, then I should not keep postponing it. And if I am not equipped with techniques like mindful eating, going on a holiday and festive eating could result in more weight gain.

So, first lesson learnt right there! Why to prolong something which you can do right now? I decided to go ahead with it. (Guess what, I did not gain any weight during my holiday and yet I indulged in amazing food.)
I love eating rice and Amita never stopped me from eating rice.
Amita asked me detailed questions about my daily routine, my exercise and diet on normal days, what I loved to eat, what I did not like eating at all. She told me she will be making just a few changes in my diet. Myth busted! I did not feel like I was on a diet at all! This time I was properly informed. I love eating rice and Amita never stopped me from eating rice. She taught me about mindful eating. So I started having less food but with the same level of happiness and satisfaction.
I started seeing the results from the 1st week itself. Living in two separate cities was never a problem. My consultations would happen on video call or the phone. Amita is always available to answer whatever doubts I have and with her constant encouragement and motivation, I feel so good now. :)
My confidence has improved, I feel strong mentally. Despite having PCOS, I have managed to lose weight and inches which I never thought was possible.

I think this is the reason we all need a nutritionist in our life. There are so many things we do which we think are right on a daily basis. With the food industry bombarding us with all kinds of products, it's important that we know what is right. That is why, I will be continuing my fitness journey with my awesome nutrition coach, Amita!
